Initially, our mission was clear: to give the app and website a major design boost. However, the overwhelming success of the redesign pushed us to raise the bar even higher — our new goal was to make Bol.com the unrivalled mobile shopping destination in the Netherlands. An ambitious target, but one we gladly embraced.
The homepage was the first thing on our list. When opening the app in the old design, you were greeted by a collection of banners. We replaced these with a personalised, curated, and structured page.
Whether it’s electronics, books, or cosmetics: it all comes together neatly on the new product page. And that’s no coincidence, since these are the most important pages within the app. As you can see, the focus is always on the product.

The live chat is another feature we developed especially for the app. Customers can now directly connect with the support team during office hours. This saved time and effort, for both the customer and the support team.
Usage data revealed the popularity of the wish list feature. However, die hard users still craved more functionality. We took this feedback to heart and designed a radical overhaul, resulting in an enhanced and user-friendly wish list experience.
2018 was the year where we literally outgrew ourselves. A redesign for the app while, at the same time, innovation kept moving at a high pace. The app scored well on all KPIs, and our users are extremely satisfied
