Twill is a smart scale-up within the Danish company Maersk. Together, we developed a platform for booking and managing logistics and transportation, specifically designed for small entrepreneurs. How did we manage to make it a success? With a user-friendly and intuitive interface that guides them step by step in booking a container and supports them with all the processes involved.

Driven by ambition
By now, shipping to and from over 160 countries is possible via Twill, an achievement in itself. And we saw this reflected in the numbers. Last year, over 2,500 new customers joined, and more than 200,000 containers (TEUs) were shipped!

Constant optimalisation
Together with the data experts at Twill, we developed a methodology to make research and testing an integral part of the design and development process. By continuously optimising based on that data, the conversion rate of the booking flow has significantly increased, as well as the number of active and returning visitors.

Not only did the booking flow get a makeover, but managing and tracking booked containers has also become easier and more organised. You can see exactly where your container is and when it will arrive at its destination. And after booking a container, the administration in the new, simple MY environment is a breeze.

Because Twill is a scale-up within the Danish Maersk, it has become both an internal and external example of the digital transformation Maersk is currently undergoing. Twill demonstrates how to be a leader in providing the ultimate end-to-end service for a target audience with little experience in logistics. In addition, Twill customers can rely on the power of a massive company like Maersk, such as the load guarantee, which ensures that there is always space on board for your container(s). And that's a reassuring thought in a market where 20-30% of containers don't end up on the promised ship!

In addition to the Twill platform itself, we also set up a design system. Simply put: we use the same components throughout the platform (re)used everywhere. We do this by delivering designs and systematically documenting everything. We also provide supporting workshops. This way, designers and developers can focus on scalability and localization, rather than having to think about every button.

Twill and Soda both won double awards at the DIA Awards
Together with Twill, Soda Studio won two Dutch Interactive Awards (DIA) in the categories of Digital Transformation and B2B Experience. The jury sees this case as a transformation in its finest form. From the jury report: "A start-up has been created within the company with its own mandate and full support. The business is solid, scales thoughtfully, and sets an example for the entire organization. It undoubtedly creates a global business case in a massive market."
